Our specials to kick start the year are for those who are involved in either dressage, pony club, eventing, show jumping, showing or just general hacking around the farm on your horse enjoying the summer.
In conjunction with Dunstan Horsefeeds we are pleased to offer the following feeds on special for the month to allow something for everyone from low energy feeds through to high energy performance feeds.

• DUNSTAN COOLFEED - designed for all horses and ponies requiring a low energy diet therefore suitable for pony club, dressage, hacking, spelling and light work. Dunstan Coolfeed is low energy-low GI, completely oat free, contains extruded cereals, high fibre containing chaffed straw and also is packed with organic trace minerals as well as organic selenium yeast.

• DUNSTAN COOLFEED EXTRA - a medium energy textured feed for all sport and leisure horses involved in showjumping. dressage and eventing. Dunstan Coolfeed Extra is a medium energy feed that's oat free, vegetable oil enriched, contains extruded cereals and is packed with organic trace minerals as well as organic selenium yeast. This is the feed used by Katie McVean when only a medium level of energy is required.

• DUNSTAN EEZY MIX - a fully extruded medium energy feed containing barley, maize and rice suited for all horses involved in pony club, dressage, showjumping, endurance and eventing. Dunstan Eezy Mix is oat free, molasses free and is presented in an easy to feed and highly digestible extruded nugget that contains rice and rice bran oil. This feed is also great for older horses and provides the ideal complement to Sugar Beet or Eezy Beet when mixed together.

• DUNSTAN SPORTHORSE - a high energy sporthorse feed for intense work and competition. This feed contains oats, extruded cereals, organic trace minerals, organic selenium yeast, organic chromium (for enhanced digestive health) presented in a textured blend. Dunstan Sporthorse is the feed used by Katie McVean when her horses need sustained energy during competition.

SUMMER FEEDING TIPS

The rain that we have been receiving has surely kept the grass growing nicely during the early summer. Whilst this is great it can also provide some inherent problems with livestock being effected with the likes of facial eczema in alpacas and rye grass staggers and laminitis with horses. Solutions we offer in store are as follows;

• Facial Eczema in Alpacas - feed the Country Harvest Alapca + Zinc pellets. Zinc oxide is included in this formulation to provide 8 grams of elemental zinc per kg of feed as an aid in the prevention of facial excema.
• Rye Grass Staggers in Horses - the mycotoxin binders within Dunstan Staggers Nuggets have a protective effect over the toxins ergovaline and holitrem B which are the casual agents for rye grass staggers. Also it is advisable to avoid grazing close to ground level during the summer and autumn periods when pasture endophytes are most active.
• Laminitis - high starch diets and pasture fructans are often cited as casual agents in laminitis and its many facets. Dunstan All 4 Feet is a high fibre, low starch diet suitable to all horses at risk of laminitis but also at risk of cushings syndrome, insulin resistance, obesity and diabetes.

Conversly whilst pasture might be plentiful the mineral content provided in this pasture often does not meet the requirements of horses and other livestock. Supplements like Dunstan Boost Nuggets provide the vitamins and minerals that hard feeds provide but of a feed rate of only 200 grams per day - nice and easy to feed extruded nuggets that can be fed straight out of your hand. A very versatile and economical feed for not only horses but sheep, cattle and deer is the Dunstan Maintenance Mix which is presented as a molassed, textured meal and contains all essential vitamins and minerals.
